Why index to 2020 Q1?
Indexing sets every economy to 100 at the start of 2020, so the lines compare growth, not size. In 2026 Q1, Algeria stands at 639: 6.4 times its level in 2020 Q1. Nigeria stands at 1,033, the highest of the six peers.
Why a median, not an average?
Seven economies is a small group. One large value, like Egypt’s 1,626,418 accounts, would pull an average up. The median is the middle value, so one outlier can’t move it far.
