Translate software into Arabic and Tamazight
Volunteer teams translate Firefox, LibreOffice, Mastodon and other open-source software on Pontoon, Weblate and Crowdin. No code needed: a browser, a free account and a good command of the language are enough.
Arabic
Translate into Arabic
Most of these projects are partly translated into Arabic. Every release brings new strings, and suggestions wait for a reviewer before they reach users.

-
LibreOffice
on Weblate
The office suite: Writer, Calc, Impress and their help pages.
-
Fedora
on Weblate
The Linux distribution: its installer, its tools and its websites.
-

The decentralised social network: its web app and its server.
-

-
Lichess
on Crowdin

Tamazight
Translate into Tamazight
Kabyle (Taqbaylit), written in Latin script, has teams on all three platforms. Tamazight in Tifinagh has smaller teams that follow the standard used in Morocco. Chaouia, Mozabite and Tamahaq don’t have their own language on these platforms yet: a new team starts by asking the platform to add one.

How to start
- 01
Pick a project you use
Your translation reaches everyone who uses it in your language. Each link above opens the team’s page.
- 02
Sign up and read the guide
Create a free account on the platform. If the team has a style guide or a glossary, read it first: it keeps each term translated the same way everywhere.
- 03
Suggest, then review
New translators usually make suggestions that an experienced member approves. Once you know the terms, offer to review: it is where many teams fall behind.
Suggest a team
Know a team we’ve missed?
The list lives in content/localisation.json. Add a team with a pull request, or open an issue with its link. It should be a public team on Pontoon, Weblate or Crowdin that translates open-source software into Arabic or Tamazight and welcomes new translators.
Every link was checked on , and a weekly check reports any that break.
