Before you quote them

Read these numbers well

The counts can’t be added up

One developer can push in several languages in a quarter: someone who writes HTML, CSS and JavaScript counts in all three. The ten counts come to 52,859, which counts many developers more than once.

Not only programming languages

GitHub detects languages from the files pushed, so markup such as HTML and CSS, Jupyter notebooks and files such as Dockerfile count too.

Smaller languages don’t show

GitHub lists a language for an economy only when 100 or more developers push in it. In Q1 2026, 38 languages pass that in Algeria.
