Why djazair.dev
Algeria had 586,990 developer accounts on GitHub in Q1 2026, 49.1% more than a year earlier. djazair.dev makes that growth visible and helps it along, in two ways:
- The Algeria Developer Index, a quarterly scorecard of where Algeria stands on GitHub against its neighbours and Africa’s largest developer communities, with every number open to checking.
- The Project Hub, which points newcomers to open-source projects with Algerian maintainers, or a clear link to Algeria, whose maintainers have promised to answer.
Who runs it
djazair.dev is an independent community project, started in Algeria in 2026 and run in the open on GitHub as @djazairdev. Anyone can propose a change, report an error or list a project: the contributing guide explains how.
djazair.dev is not affiliated with GitHub, which doesn’t endorse or sponsor it. The Index uses GitHub’s public Innovation Graph data, which GitHub publishes under CC0.

Privacy
djazair.dev sets no cookies and asks for no personal data. We count page views and actions without visitor identifiers. Action counts include opening tasks, following meetup links and using the share button. We keep only event names, page and section categories, language and campaign codes, never visitor IDs, IP addresses or full URLs. Counts respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Campaign codes may travel with links to founders.coffee. These counts do not prove a contribution, attendance or a completed share to another person. If you pick a language with the switcher, your browser remembers it on your device, and nowhere else. The Hub shows issue titles from GitHub, never who opened them. It also shows project ideas from GitHub Discussions with their number of votes, never who proposed or voted for them.
Contact
For anything public, such as an error, an idea or a project for the Hub, open an issue on GitHub. For anything else, write to contact@djazair.dev. To report a security problem, follow the security policy.
Partners
None yet. Universities, meetups and companies that want to help Algeria’s developers can write to contact@djazair.dev. Partners never change the numbers: the methodology and the data are public, and every change to them goes in the changelog.
